OBJECTIVES

For over 70 years, Englewood strives to break cycles of economic decline and community violence. The comprised neighborhoods have experienced decreased social opportunity and increased racial segregation, and in turn, have been continually seen as a risk in our local investment landscapes.

We believe that the Englewood community is powerful and can create a new view and an effective guide for community trajectory, when properly resourced in key areas of social development.

We see Englewood as a high-potential and not a high-risk. Without question, Englewood has always been something good, and our goal is to ensure that the programs are in place to elevate the experiences and visibility of positivity and progress in the community.

Something Good In Englewood is established to provide programs and resources through four distinct age-specific programs:

 • Children ages 6 weeks to 6 years are enrolled in early childhood education and developmental programs with family access to a social service coordinator.

 • Elementary: Children ages 6 to 13 are enrolled in afterschool, community engagement, and educational enrichment programs.

 • Summer Service: Youth ages 14-18 are trained and employed in community service, early childhood, and civic engagement preparation programs over the summer.

 • Strong Futures: Justice-involved youth ages 18-25 are enrolled in a 12-month community engagement and workforce development program, and supported by a life coach to ensure employment and social-emotional development.
