Meet Damien Bluitt. Damien is a 15-year-old, 10th grade student at the University of Chicago Charter School Woodlawn Campus. He enjoys expressing his artistic side through coloring and painting. His favorite hobbies are taking care of animals and exploring nature. \r\n\r\n Damien enrolled in Something Good in Englewood summer camp to allow himself to grow and develop his social skills and to learn how to identify triggers for other people.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on his hopes and dreams, Damien wants to be successful in his future, so he can financially support his mother in the same manner she has supported him.\r\n \r\n Damien also wants to support his community through giving back and being a resource regarding skills necessary to learn how to adapt to your environment.\r\n \r\n His personal goals are to graduate high school and college. His ultimate goal is to obtain his Doctoral Degree. \r\n \r\n During the college tour, Damien was able to experience learning about college opportunities and the possibility of setting goals for his future.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Amya Bush. Amaya is 16-year-old, 11th grade student at Simeon Career Academy. She enjoys cheerleading and running track.\r\n\r\n Amya enrolled in Something Good in Englewood summer camp to aid the younger children in having the same opportunities she had growing up. Additionally, Amya wants to give back to the community. \r\n \r\n When reflecting on her hopes and dreams, Amya wants to be successful in her life as a business owner.\r\n \r\n Amya wants to support her community by sharing her good energy with positive vibes throughout the day.\r\n \r\n Her personal goal is to have an impact on the lives of children. \r\n \r\n During the college tour, Amya enjoyed learning about the amount of support and opportunities that were available for minorities.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Kami\u2019yelle Carter. Kami\u2019yelle is a 16-year-old, 11th grade student at Southland College Prep. In her spare time, she enjoys engaging and interacting with friends, playing basketball, and singing in the choir.\r\n\r\n Kami\u2019yelle enrolled in Something Good in Englewood summer camp to work with children especially since she has always wanted her first job to be a summer camp worker.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on her hopes and dreams, Kami\u2019yelle wants to have new and exciting experiences while enjoying the process.\r\n \r\n Kami\u2019yelle wants to support her community by helping and ensuring the children have a fun and safe summer.\r\n \r\n Her personal goal is to be creative by starting something new.\r\n \r\n During the college tour, Kami\u2019yelle stated she had a fantastic experience playing volleyball with some of the college students.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Akeelah Evans. Akeelah is a 16-year-old, 10th grade student at Horizon Science Academy. She enjoys cooking, shopping, eating, and having fun with friends.\r\n\r\n Akeelah enrolled in Something Good in Englewood summer camp because after all the years of being a camper herself, she wanted to take a more responsible leading role in summer camp.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on her hopes and dreams, Akeelah aspires to give back and help others.\r\n \r\n Akeelah wants to support her community by giving love and kindness to the young children.\r\n \r\n Her personal goal is to become a successful doctor.\r\n \r\n During the college tour, Akeelah was amazed with the many interesting activities that were available for the students.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Briane Hall. Briane is a 23-year-old professional who enjoys art and activism. \r\n\r\n Briane is a participant in Something Good in Englewood summer camp because she wanted to work with an organization that gave back to their community.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on her hopes and dreams, Briane desires to create a positive legacy that lives on beyond her.\r\n \r\n Briane wants to support the community through an artistic approach to learning.\r\n \r\n Her personal goal is to expand her non-profit organization from a local to global level.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Myrical Jackson. Myrical is a 16-year-old, 11th grade student at South Shore International. Her favorite hobby is playing volleyball.\r\n\r\n Myrical enrolled in Something Good in Englewood summer camp to assist the Englewood community and the young children.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on her hopes and dreams, Myrical would like to become a traveling ER Nurse.\r\n \r\n Myrical wants to support the community by offering joy, happiness, and comfort to the young children.\r\n \r\n Her personal goal is to make children happy.\r\n \r\n During the college tour, Myrical experienced attending lectures, workshops, and discussions about the different opportunities available on campus.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Wilym Nutfah. Wilym is 20-years-old and a junior at Millsaps College. His favorite hobbies include gaming, watching television, singing, and practicing piano, when he has an opportunity.\r\n\r\n Wilym enrolled in Something Good in Englewood summer camp based on a recommendation from an upstanding community representative who believed he would make a positive impact on the program.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on his hopes and dreams, Wilym would like to utilize his musical degree and talents to assist people all over the world.\r\n \r\n Wilym wants to support the community by helping the youths understand and engage in music.\r\n \r\n His personal goal is to help as many people as possible, which he is still currently in the process of determining how best to achieve his vision.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Cameron Pugh. Cameron is a 19-year-old Sophomore at Morehouse College. His favorite hobbies include computer coding, reading, and bowling.\r\n\r\n While volunteering with Something Good in Englewood summer camp, Cameron hopes to further develop his communication skills, as well as improve his leadership skills.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on his hopes and dreams, Cameron would like to graduate from Morehouse with a bachelor\u2019s in science, then continue his education endeavors by attending graduate school so that he can take care of his family.\r\n \r\n Cameron wants to offer children support and encouragement, while building their self-confidence through leading by example.\r\n \r\n His personal goal is to pursue a career in real estate, as well as work for a technology company as a senior developer.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Carvin Pugh. Carvin is a 19-year-old Sophomore at Morehouse College. His favorite hobbies include exploring, sports, playing games, and spending time with friends.\r\n\r\n While volunteering with Something Good in Englewood summer camp, Carvin hopes to explore new experiences by creating a positive and enriching camp environment for the children that will broaden their horizons while also creating positive memories.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on his hopes and dreams, Carvin wishes to become successful in his software engineering career.\r\n \r\n Carvin wants to offer to represent his community and offer mentorship to those in need. He is willing to provide guidance, support, and encouragement to the youths.\r\n \r\n His personal goal is to complete grad school, have an established career, and take care of his family.\r\n \r\n During the college tour, Carvin realized that he made the right decision in enrolling in Morehouse and does not regret that choice. <\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Flor Tapia. Flor is a 25-year-old and enjoys reading and watching television. \r\n\r\n Flor is volunteering with Something Good in Englewood summer camp to learn more about the neighborhood where she has lived her entire adult life.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on her hopes and dreams, Flor wishes for her parents to never have to worry about anything but enjoying their lives alongside their children.\r\n \r\n Flor wants to support our youths with her 6+ years of experience in education and her unconditional love and understanding.\r\n \r\n Her personal goal in life includes being happy and becoming a registered behavioral therapist and helping children with autism effectively communicate.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Jordan Moore. Jordan is a 22-year-old, first year law student at Suffolk\r\n University Law School. Her favorite hobbies include creating art, spending time with friends and family, watching Netflix, and working out.\r\n \r\n Jordan is supporting Something Good in Englewood by sharing her knowledge and expertise in writing and technology.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on her hopes and dreams, Jordan aspires to become a high-power attorney.\r\n \r\n Jordan wants to support our community with her artistic talents, educational skills, warm spirit, and excellent communication skills.\r\n \r\n Her personal goal in life is to complete grad school and pass the bar exam to become a practicing attorney in the State of Illinois.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet David Raw. He is a 19-year-old, sophomore at the University of Chicago. His favorite hobbies include biking, painting, and cooking.\r\n\r\n David joined the Something Good in Englewood team as an intern to build his data analysis skills and to learn more about the internal operations of the organization.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on his hopes and dreams, David seeks to make a significant and positive impact on others.\r\n \r\n David wants to support our community through his knowledge of data collection and budgeting to help the agency focus on what matters most: providing socioeconomic opportunities for the members of the Englewood community.\r\n \r\n His personal goal is to one day visit Antarctica.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Brandon Allen. Brandon is 17-year-old is 11th grade student at Eisenhower High \r\n School. His favorite hobby is helping with the game of football.\r\n \r\n Brandon enrolled in Something Good in Englewood summer camp simply to assist others and to learn about the program.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on his hopes and dreams, Brandon desires to be financially successful and to play in the NFL.\r\n \r\n Brandon wants to support the community by helping wherever he is needed. \r\n \r\n His personal goal is to earn $100,000 a year.\r\n \r\n During the college tour, Brandon realized that he wanted a better change in a better environment that will provide the opportunity for growth and acceptance.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Makayiah Harris. Makayiah is a 16-year-old, 11th grade student at Catalyst Maria High School. Her favorite hobbies are sports such as basketball, track, and volleyball.\r\n\r\n Makayiah enrolled in Something Good in Englewood summer camp to see a change in the community and experience different opportunities during the summer.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on her hopes and dreams, Makayiah plans to enlist in the army as well as attend UCLA.\r\n \r\n Makayiah wants to support the community by giving her time and ability to effectively manage stressful situations. \r\n \r\n Her personal goal is to be in the army and play professional volleyball.\r\n \r\n During the college tour, Makayiah enjoyed experiencing campus life and learning about the many benefits that are available for those who attend.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meet Courtney Smith. She is a 15-year-old, 10th grade at Wellesley High School. Her favorite hobbies are art and cheer.\r\n\r\n Courtney participated in Something Good in Englewood summer camp as a Youth Leader for employment and to support the community. She enjoys having the experience of engaging with younger children and appreciates having a place for young people during the summer.\r\n \r\n When reflecting on her hopes and dreams, Courtney plans to attend Spelman College and major in Business Management\/Administration which will allow her to be financially successful.\r\n \r\n Courtney wants to support the community through her volunteer work and advocacy for the young. \r\n \r\n Her personal goal is to excel in school and continue to be proficient in her artistry.\r\n \r\n During the college tour, Courtney appreciated visiting campus because it gave her an idea of what to expect in the future.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n
